202 Craft Beers

The Brazilian Edition contains 202 craft beers from 44 breweries. This edition starts with the same information that we included in the original Swiss Edition such as pairings, serving temperature, and, of course, its color. We’ve also taken the opportunity to expand the guide to include IBU (International Bitterness Units) as well as QR codes that connect you to even more information in our new Web App.It was a honor to have the well-known Brazilian blogger and beer sommelier Bruno Couto write the foreword for the Brazilian Edition.

Foreword

Brazil has been hailed for its range of colors since the first explorers set foot on its land. The gifts that the Indians presented the Portuguese were so enchanting that Pero Vaz de Caminha captured it in his historic letter in 1500, detailing the discovery of Brazil to the King of Portugal.

This mosaic has survived since beginning of Brazilian society and is an integral part of our popular culture today. Homens Multicoloridos (English: Men of Many Colors) was sung by Chico Science and the Nação Zumbi in Côco Dub, in the same way that many other artists have celebrated and continue to celebrate our miscegenation.

However, this diversity has not always been present in the beverage most beloved by Brazilians. For decades we were hostages of a culture marked by large industrial brewers that had no interest in variety. Fortunately, today it is different.
Brazilian craft breweries, driven by the growing interest in our own country, created a revolution in our relationship to beer. Today our beers are a “mestiça”: half Belgian, part German, a bit of English, and with an American face. And Brazilian beers are gradually finding their way into the company of the great beers of the world.

This edition is proof that the essence of Brazilian beer today is enjoying and extolling the plurality that is the face of our country.
